The story behind the system
From a library discovery
to an oracle in your hands.
Before there were hexagonal cards, there was a question: could the recurring themes of Tarot, Astrology and I Ching become one connected language? For Benjamin, the answer grew through reading, writing and returning to an idea he could never quite leave behind.
- 1991
A room full of possibility.
In the companion’s opening story, Benjamin recalls discovering Sydney’s Theosophical Library above the Adyar Bookshop. Reading its sacred texts opened an interest in mythology and the divinatory traditions that would become the Creatrix.
- 1994
The first connections.
He describes spending months comparing Tarot cards, I Ching hexagrams and Astrological influences. An early 40-page manuscript brought their shared themes together. It was a beginning, not yet the illustrated oracle.
- Over time
An idea kept alive.
A career in storytelling followed. The manuscript travelled between computers as Benjamin continued exploring spiritual ideas through articles, books and meditation. Later revisits developed its Divine Feminine themes and the fuller world behind the cards.
- 2024–25
From manuscript to object.
Benjamin’s account describes finishing the work in 2024, after further research and consultation with practitioners. The companion’s First Edition is dated April 2025: the written system and its artwork became a physical oracle of 64 archetypes.
This is Benjamin’s account of the project’s development, briefly retold from the companion storybook.
